What is plant-based cheese?
Plant-based cheese contains protein from, you guessed it, plants! Various plant-based ingredients can be used to accomplish this, but cashews are our staple go-to.
Why do we need cheese made from plants?
Aside from the fact that plant-based cheese is delicious, here are a few other reasons why 100% dairy-free cheese is important:
Health: Various scientific studies have suggested that having a plant-based diet and removing dairy is beneficial to our overall health. Additionally, many people have allergies or intolerances to dairy.
Planet: Plant food production produces much lower rates of carbon dioxide emissions than dairy food production.
Animals: We love animals! We’re excited to show that you can have 100% dairy-free cheese without cows, sheep, or goats.
How do you make Nuts For Cheese™? What is it made of?
Our product is made entirely by hand in our facility in London, Ontario. We start by fermenting organic cashew milk with vegan cultures (created in-house) and then combine with various high-quality, organic ingredients and spices.
After the fermentation process is complete, our 100% dairy-free cheese products are aged for a select amount of time to produce a rich, sharp, and tasty flavour experience.
Are there any fillers or gums?
No! We are nuts for wholesome ingredients!
No starches, gums, or fillers. Just 100% real goodness. Chef quality, without compromise.
Is Nuts For Cheese™ lactose-free? Soy-free? Gluten-free? GMO-free?
Yes, yes, yes, and yes! All of our plant-based cheese are dairy/lactose-free, soy-free,-gluten-free, and GMO-free.
Is Nuts For Cheese™ organic?
Yes. We use only certified organic ingredients. We believe that eating organic food is important for many reasons including avoiding exposure to unnecessary chemicals, increasing the bio-availability of nutrients, and protecting our environment by reducing soil and water pollution.
Can you freeze Nuts For Cheese™?
Yes, you can! And they grate perfectly from frozen!
How long does Nuts For Cheese™ stay fresh once opened?
As a general guideline, you can expect our cheese to stay fresh for approximately two-three weeks after opening. Keep refrigerated and store in an airtight container for lasting freshness!
Is Nuts For Cheese™ shreddable?
If you’d like to shred the cheese, pop it in the freezer for about 10 minutes prior to shredding on top of nachos, pizza, or your favourite pasta dish.
Does Nuts For Cheese™ melt?
You bet it does! Just pop it under the broiler to melt, or just stir it in to your favourite warm dish.
What is rejuvelac?
Rejuvelac is a culturing agent we use to ferment our products. It’s light, fizzy, fermented and great for your gut! Our rejuvelac is made in-house from sprouted, organic quinoa.
How do I use Nuts For Butter™?
You can use Nuts For Butter™ as a 1:1 swap for dairy butter in any recipe!
Can you recycle Nuts For Cheese™ and Nuts For Butter™ packaging?
